  1. Open POS: Choose Point of Sale (POS) in the Core Commerce menu on a tablet or computer.
  2. Set staff PINs: Add staff and PINs so each sale is attributed to who rang it up.

Common questions

How do I set up a point of sale system for my small shop?

With Pludor POS you create a free store at pludor.com/setup, then choose Point of Sale (POS) in the Core Commerce menu on a tablet or computer. Add staff with PINs, tap products to ring up sales, and run the end-of-day report to reconcile cash and card totals. It runs in the browser, so no special hardware is required to start.

Does in-store POS stock stay in sync with my online store?

On Pludor, yes - POS sells from the same product catalog as your online store, so an in-person sale reduces the same stock count automatically. With separate POS systems this usually requires a matching online platform or a sync app. That shared catalog is one of the main reasons sellers pick Pludor POS.

How much does a POS system cost per month?

Pludor POS is on for every store, including the Free plan - each month a free amount is included, then you pay only for what you use (1 credit = 1 cent). Cash sales recorded in POS carry no platform fee; paid online orders carry a platform fee of 4.99% + $0.90, with card processing charged separately by Stripe. Traditional POS vendors typically charge monthly software fees plus hardware costs.

Can I use my phone as a card reader instead of buying a terminal?

Yes - Pludor's Smart Terminal turns a spare Android phone with NFC into a Tap-to-Pay / QR terminal. Connect your Stripe account in Settings, install the Pludor Smart Terminal app, sign in and pair it with your store's POS. Customers then tap their card on the phone or scan a QR code, and payments appear in Finance and the end-of-day report.

How do I track which employee made each sale?

In Pludor, invite staff under Team Staff in the Management menu and give each person a POS PIN. Every sale is then attributed to whoever rang it up. You can remove a staff member's access when they leave.

How do I count my cash drawer at the end of the day?

Run the POS end-of-day report to see your cash and card totals, then count the drawer and match it against the report. Pludor also offers a free Cash Drawer Count tool - enter your notes and coins and it totals them instantly, no account needed. Note that Pludor records cash sales but doesn't collect them, and takes no platform fee on cash.

Is Pludor POS better than Square or Shopify POS?

It depends on your setup. On Pludor, counter, kiosk, kitchen, tables and online orders all run on one catalog and one order list, with kiosk mode built into the POS and a spare phone usable as a terminal. Square, Toast, Clover and Shopify POS typically need vendor-specific card readers, a separate kiosk product, and a sync app to keep online and in-person stock aligned. If you also sell online, Pludor's shared catalog avoids the sync problem entirely.

Can I connect a receipt printer and cash drawer to my POS?

Yes - in Pludor POS, open POS hardware settings to configure a receipt printer or cash drawer. It's optional; the POS works in any browser on a tablet or computer without them. Add the hardware whenever you're ready.

Can I use a POS system for my restaurant with table ordering?

Yes - in Pludor, set your store category to Food & Restaurant in Settings, which turns on Kitchen, Tables, Reservations and Waitlist. Build your menu in Products with modifiers like sizes and add-ons, print table QR codes for ordering, and open the Kitchen screen on your prep station. New tickets appear as orders arrive, all on the same catalog as your POS and online store.

Do I need special hardware or an iPad to run a POS?

No - Pludor POS is browser-based and runs on any tablet or computer. For card payments you can use Stripe readers or turn a spare Android phone with NFC into a terminal with the Smart Terminal app. Receipt printers and cash drawers are optional and configured in POS hardware settings.

Does POS use the same stock as my online store?

Yes - POS sells from the same product catalog, so an in-person sale reduces the same stock count.
