Common questions

What is Pludor Point of Sale and how does it work?

Pludor POS is a point-of-sale system that runs in the browser on any tablet or computer, so there's nothing to install. It uses the same product catalog and stock as your online store, records cash and card sales, supports staff PINs, and produces an end-of-day report. You open it from the Core Commerce menu in your Pludor store and tap products to ring up a sale.

How do I set up a POS system for my small shop?

Start by creating a free store at pludor.com/setup, then open Point of Sale (POS) from the Core Commerce menu on a tablet or computer. Add staff and give each a PIN so sales are attributed to the right person, then tap products and take cash or card. Optionally configure a receipt printer or cash drawer in POS hardware settings, and run the end-of-day report to close out.

How much does a POS system cost per month?

Costs vary a lot by provider, but with Pludor POS is on for every store including the Free plan - you get a free amount every month and pay only for what you use (1 credit = 1 cent). There's no card needed and no item limit to start. Pludor also charges a platform fee of 4.99% + $0.90 per paid online order, while cash sales recorded in POS carry no platform fee.

Can I use my iPad or tablet as a cash register?

Yes. Pludor POS runs in the browser on any tablet or computer, so you can use an iPad, Android tablet or a laptop as your register. Just open your Pludor store in the browser, choose Point of Sale (POS), and start ringing up sales. If you want card payments, connect Stripe in Settings or use the Smart Terminal app on a spare NFC Android phone.

How do I keep my in-store and online inventory in sync?

The cleanest way is to use one system for both channels. With Pludor POS, in-person sales come from the same product catalog and stock as your online store, so a sale at the counter automatically reduces the same stock count - no separate sync app needed. With traditional setups like Square or Shopify POS, you typically need a matching online platform or a sync tool to keep stock aligned.

How do I take card payments at a market stall or pop-up?

You'll need a card reader or a tap-to-pay terminal connected to your POS. With Pludor, connect your Stripe account in Settings, then either use a Stripe reader or install the Pludor Smart Terminal app on a spare Android phone with NFC - customers tap their card on the phone or scan a QR code. You can also download product or store QR pay links to accept payment in person.

How do I count my cash drawer at the end of the day?

Enter your notes and coins and compare the total against your recorded cash sales. Pludor POS produces an end-of-day report that reconciles your cash and card totals, and there's a free Cash Drawer Count (End of Day) tool on pludor.com that adds up your notes and coins instantly - no account needed. Note that Pludor records cash sales but doesn't collect them, and takes no platform fee on cash.

How do I track which employee made each sale?

Give each staff member their own PIN and have them sign in at the POS before ringing up sales. In Pludor, you add staff under Team Staff in the Management menu, invite them by email, and set a POS PIN for each person - every sale is then attributed to who rang it up. When someone leaves, you simply remove their access.

Pludor POS vs Square or Shopify POS - which should I choose?

It depends on whether you also sell online. Square, Toast and Clover typically need a separate kiosk product, vendor-specific card readers, and a sync app to connect in-person sales to an online store. On Pludor, counter, kiosk, kitchen, tables and online orders all run on one catalog and one order list, and you can even turn a spare phone into a card terminal instead of buying a reader.

Can a POS system work for my restaurant with table ordering and a kitchen display?

Yes, but you want one that includes restaurant tools rather than bolting them on. In Pludor, set your store category to Food & Restaurant in Settings, which turns on Kitchen, Tables, Reservations and Waitlist - you build your menu with modifiers, print QR codes for each table, and run the Kitchen screen on a prep-station device. Orders from QR table ordering flow into the same order list as counter and online sales.

Does POS use the same stock as my online store?

Yes - POS sells from the same product catalog, so an in-person sale reduces the same stock count.
