Common questions

How do I set up QR code ordering at restaurant tables?

Create a QR code for each table and print it for the table. In Pludor, open Tables in the Core Commerce menu, enter the table number and capacity, press Add Table, then press QR to download that table's code. Place the printed code on the table and orders will arrive tagged with the table number.

How much does QR table ordering cost?

On Pludor it's included on every plan, including the Free plan at $0 with no item limit. Each month a free amount of usage is included (for example 3,000 visits and 30 bookings); past that you pay only for what you use, in credits where 1 credit equals 1 cent. Paid online orders carry a platform fee of 4.99% plus $0.90, deducted before payout, and card processing is charged separately by Stripe.

Do guests need to download an app to order by scanning a QR code?

No, guests just scan the QR code with their phone camera and your menu opens in the browser. They order and pay from their phone without waiting for a server. On Pludor, the order arrives in your Orders and Kitchen screens tagged with their table number.

What's the best way to take orders at tables without making guests wait for a server?

Put a QR code on each table so guests order and pay from their phone whenever they're ready. With Pludor's Tables tool you create tables with a number and capacity, download a QR code per table, and every order comes in tagged with the right table number. You can also run a Kitchen display screen so tickets appear as orders arrive.

How does a kitchen display system work with QR ordering?

Open the Kitchen screen in the Core Commerce menu on a prep-station device and new tickets appear as orders arrive. Turn on the sound alert so staff hear new orders, and optionally tick auto-print if you have a printer connected. Tap the status button to move a ticket forward through prep. Pludor includes this on every store, including the Free plan.

Can I manage reservations and a waitlist along with QR ordering?

Yes, and it works best when they're on the same system. In Pludor, set your store category to Food & Restaurant in Settings and Kitchen, Tables, Reservations and Waitlist all turn on. Add reservations with name, phone, party size and date/time, add walk-ins to the Waitlist with a quoted wait, and press Text Ready to send an SMS when their table is free.

Is QR table ordering better than using DoorDash or Uber Eats?

Delivery apps typically take a commission per order and route orders through their platform. With direct QR ordering, guests order from your own menu and the order comes straight to you. On Pludor, direct paid online orders carry the standard platform fee of 4.99% plus $0.90, and you keep the direct customer relationship.

Is it safe to use QR codes for restaurant ordering and payment?

Yes, QR ordering is a standard, widely used approach and payments are processed by a card processor rather than the restaurant holding card details. With Pludor, guests scan a code tied to a specific table, orders are tagged with that table number, and card processing runs through Stripe. Cash sales recorded in POS carry no platform fee.

What do I need to get started with table QR codes for my restaurant?

You need a menu with your dishes and prices, a way to generate QR codes, and a printer. On Pludor you create a free store, set the store category to Food & Restaurant, add dishes in Products with modifiers like sizes and add-ons, then create tables and download each QR code. New stores get 500 free credits to start.

Can I try making a QR menu without paying anything?

Yes. Pludor's free Digital Menu Writer lets you add dishes and prices and get a menu guests can open at the table, with 8 free runs an hour and no account needed. If you open a free Pludor store, 500 credits are added for the tools and AI. The Free plan itself is $0 with no item limit.
