The Buy Hardware page lists compatible POS hardware you can order as a one-time purchase.
Finding hardware that is compatible with your POS takes research.
5 steps, in this order. Each one is explained in the step-by-step guide.
Compatibility is the hard part — most POS systems only work with vendor-specific readers. Pludor's POS Hardware Shop solves this by only listing hardware that's compatible with its POS, so you can order without researching. Open POS hardware from the POS screen, pick an item, and press Order.
Yes, on Pludor you can pair a spare phone as a terminal instead of buying a dedicated reader. In POS choose Card Reader > Pair a Smart Terminal and scan the pairing QR code with the Smart Terminal app. This can save you the hardware purchase entirely.
Hardware is a one-time purchase, billed separately from your Pludor plan. The hardware page itself is open to every store, and Pludor stores are free to create with no card required. Exact prices are shown at checkout on the hardware page.
Connect Stripe in Settings first, then in POS choose Card Reader > Add Reader and enter the reader's registration code plus a label. Ring up a sale, choose the reader, and press Charge. Run a small test charge to confirm it works before real customers.
Retry the charge first, and if it still fails, switch to a QR code payment or take cash. Pludor's POS supports cash and card side by side, so a failed card payment doesn't have to stop the sale. Cash sales recorded in POS also carry no platform fee.
No, Pludor's POS is web-based and works on a tablet or computer — just open Point of Sale (POS) from the Core Commerce menu. You can optionally add a receipt printer or cash drawer in the POS hardware settings. No proprietary terminal is required.
The big difference is that counter, kiosk, kitchen, tables and online orders all run on one catalog and one order list, so your in-person and online stock stay in sync without a separate app. Kiosk mode is built into the POS rather than being a separate product, and staff clock-in and tips are included on the Scale plan. Card hardware uses Stripe readers or a paired phone instead of vendor-locked devices.
Add your staff in POS and give each one a PIN, so every sale is attributed to whoever rang it up. At closing, run the end-of-day report to reconcile cash and card totals. On Pludor, staff accounts are included — your store gets team member accounts free each month.
Compare the hardware's one-time cost against your margin per sale to see how many sales it takes to break even. Pludor has a free Break-Even Calculator for exactly this — enter the cost and your margin and it shows when the equipment pays for itself. It's free and instant, no account needed.
Yes, Pludor stores are free to create with no card needed, and the hardware page is open to every store so you can browse compatible equipment first. New stores also get 500 free credits for Pludor's tools and AI. You only pay for the hardware itself, billed separately from your plan.
