What a tutor website needs

Six things decide whether a visitor becomes a customer. Pludor builds each one in for tutors.

What a tutor website looks like on Pludor

The top of the page says who you are and has one clear button - Book a lesson. Below it, your services with prices, then your hours, where to find you, your photos and what customers say.

An example layout for a made-up tutor. Yours is written from what you type, with your own name, prices and photos, and you can change anything by saying it - "make the colours warmer", "put my phone number at the top".

Questions tutors ask about websites

What is the best website builder for a tutoring business?

One that books lessons and takes payment without a monthly fee - Pludor does both (the first 30 bookings each month are free, then 2 credits per booking; 4.99% + $0.90 on paid online orders). Tutor platforms that bundle scheduling usually charge a monthly subscription.

Do tutors need a website?

A website gets you found by parents searching locally, shows your results, and takes bookings and payment so you can stop chasing invoices.

Can parents pay for lesson packs?

Yes - sell single lessons or packs, paid by card.

Can I teach online and in person from one site?

Yes, list both and let families pick.

How much should a tutoring website cost?

$0 to start on Pludor; general builders cost about $17-40 a month once you take payments.

Should I show my tutoring rates?

Yes - clear rates and packs help parents decide quickly.

Can I sell a course or recorded lessons?

Yes, Pludor also supports online courses with lessons.

How do I get tutoring students online?

Name your subjects, levels and area on the page, offer a free first lesson, show results and link your site from Google.

Is there a monthly fee for the tutor website?

No. Building, previewing and publishing the website is free, and there is no monthly fee for the website. Pludor charges 4.99% + $0.90 only when a customer pays online for a paid booking, and card processing is charged separately by the processor.

Do I have to pay for hosting or a domain name?

No - hosting is included free at your own Pludor address. A domain name is optional and is paid to your registrar (usually $10-20 a year) when you want yourname.com instead; you can connect one at any time.

Is the free tutor website really free - what is the catch?

There is no catch and no card to start: the website, hosting and online booking are free. Pludor earns 4.99% + $0.90 when a customer pays online, and AI features beyond the free monthly amounts use credits (1 credit = 1 cent).

Can I edit my tutor website myself after it is built?

Yes. Open it in the builder and tap any text, photo, price or button to change it, or just say what you want ("put my phone number at the top"). Changes show on the live site straight away - no developer and no support ticket.

Does the website work on phones?

Yes - it is built mobile first. Most local searches happen on a phone, so the layout, the tap-to-call button and the booking flow are designed for a small screen before anything else.

What do I need ready before I start?

Your tutor name and one sentence about what you do - that is enough for the first version. Prices, photos, hours and your area can be added straight after; the AI writes the pages from what you give it.

Can I add or change my prices later?

Yes. Prices, services, packages and availability are edited from your phone in seconds and the website updates at once.

Will my tutor website show up when people ask ChatGPT or Google for a tutor?

The pages are clean HTML with your services, prices and area as real text, plus structured data and a sitemap, which is what Google and AI assistants read. Publish it, add the link to your Google Business Profile, and collect reviews - those three do most of the work.

What happens to my website if I stop using Pludor?

Your words and photos are yours - copy them out at any time. The free Pludor address and hosting stop when the account is closed; if you connected your own domain, point it at your new host. That is why we suggest connecting a domain once the site is earning.

How do I add photos from my phone?

Take the photo with your phone and add it in the builder, or upload the ones you already have - iPhone (HEIC) and newer Android photos included, they are converted for the web automatically. AI can tidy the background and light so phone photos look like product shots.

I designed my website but did not publish it - is it saved?

Yes. Your design is kept: open the website builder again while signed in and it is there, ready to check. Press "Make it live - free" to publish it, or tap anything to change it first.

Can customers pay me with mobile money or cash?

Yes. Next to card payments you can show MoMo, M-Pesa, Vodafone Cash, PayPal, Cash App, a bank transfer or cash on delivery at checkout. The customer pays you directly and you mark the booking paid when the money arrives.

Will prices show in my own currency?

Yes. Your tutor sells in your own currency - it is set from the country you open in, and you can change it in Settings at any time.
